A new common sense

Much has changed since 1776 when Thomas Paine published “Common Sense”.  Is it time for a new Common Sense?
Democratic Party, Republican Party, Tea Party. Perhaps what we need is a Common Sense Party.
It seems as though the major political parties have become so concerned about promoting themselves that they have lost track of the concept of a common good. A Common Sense Party could be just the breath of fresh air that is so desperately needed. As I see it, a basic principle for the party would be the golden rule: “Treat others as you would want to be treated”. Any and all policies supported by such a party would be adopted only after going through a “mile in their shoes” test. This test would basically be to have party members picture themselves on the opposite side of an issue to see if they still think the policy is fair.
In coming days, I will post some specific policy ideas and endeavor to look at the policies from both sides.
